About The New Lexus RX
The RX was one of the first luxury crossovers, and it set such a high bar for the whole segment that today it remains the best-selling Lexus model of all time. It features a luxurious interior, an incredibly smooth ride, and an unbeatable lineup of trims and drivetrain configuration options. The RX continues to be a style icon as well, effortlessly good-looking without being ostentatious, something its competitors seem to struggle with. The RX is even practical, with a spacious interior with lots of room for cargo in the back and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, regardless of which drivetrain you choose. Advanced technology enhances all of these elements as well, helping to make the RX an indispensable part of daily life.
What the Critics Say
“The RX’s interior design is more modern than the last-generation model, with textured fabric sections on the upper door panels, rich-looking ambient lighting, and open-pore wood trim on RX350 models. The RX500h F Sport Performance features more heavily bolstered front seats, black interior trim, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and aluminum pedals. Cargo space is generous behind the second-row seats, so there’s plenty of space for a big load of groceries or several suitcases when road-tripping.” — Car & Driver
“We’re big fans of the latest Toyota/Lexus infotainment system. With a screen up to 14.0 inches in size, the RX offers up a bright, crisp example that can accept multiple input methods. Touch is of course one main choice, but the improved audio assistant makes it easy to ask for directions, which then show on the available head-up display. Wireless phone pairing for both major platforms is a big win too.” — AutoGuide
What’s New For 2026
The wireless phone charging pad that was optional last year is standard for 2026. To go with this, last year’s Black Line Special Edition package has been updated and is now called the Appearance Package, available for F SPORT trims. As before, this package comes with a number of black design elements, both inside and out, which include a unique set of 21-inch black wheels. The one change that isn’t black is the orange brake calipers, which are painted to better stand out against the black wheels.
Lexus RX Features
Evolved Styling
Good looks have always been a big part of the appeal of the RX, and the RX has remained a design leader ever since it was first introduced. Even though the LX is considered the flagship Lexus SUV, it is the RX that sets the design language for the brand, with the body-color transition at the top of the spindle grille being an excellent example of this. Triple-beam LED headlights and a rear taillight bar that extends across the whole back of the RX are design features adopted not just by the rest of the Lexus lineup, but the rest of the industry. The interior is spacious and well thought out, with high-quality materials and available features like a panoramic roof and LED ambient lighting, because light is an important part of design as well.
Drivetrain Options
The versatility of the RX is especially apparent in the drivetrain options that it comes with. The standard engine, found in 350-badged trims, is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 275 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard with this drivetrain, but all-wheel drive is available. 350h-badged trims feature a hybrid drivetrain that produces 246 horsepower and increases fuel economy by roughly 50 percent. AWD is standard with the 350h. The 450h+, which is also AWD, is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that produces 304 horsepower and has a combined fuel economy rating of 85 MPGe. Performance enthusiasts will want to look to the 500h drivetrain found in the F SPORT Performance trim. This is also a hybrid and also all-wheel drive, but this more powerful system produces a total of 366 horsepower.
Advanced Technology
The impressive range of drivetrains available for the RX is only the start of the advanced technology found in the RX. Available features like a digital rearview mirror and a 10-inch head-up display give you an excellent passive safety boost, and the available 14-inch infotainment touchscreen makes it easy to control many of the vehicle’s systems. This includes the stereo, and the available Mark Levinson® 21-speaker, 1,800-watt PurePlay Surround Sound system is a technological marvel, delivering superb sound that will please the most ardent of audiophiles. The RX comes with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 standard, giving a technological boost to safety. The suite includes features such as Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Intersection Support, and Proactive Driving Assist.
