About The Lexus ES
The ES was one of the very first models to join the Lexus lineup, and the midsize sedan has been an important part of the brand’s history ever since. Today, the ES is now the first all-electric sedan from Lexus, and unlike its competitors, it is also offered with a conventional hybrid drivetrain. The things that have always made the ES desirable, like exceptional ride comfort and an interior built with high-quality materials, are still an important part of what makes the ES so successful, and they’re better than ever. The ES is an especially stylish vehicle as well, in a segment that has unfortunately been otherwise surprisingly bland for many years. The ES is also the first vehicle in the Lexus lineup to use Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, the most advanced suite of safety features to date.
What the Critics Say
What’s New for 2026
The ES is all new for 2026, and a bigger departure from the previous generation than ever. While the outgoing ES was available with either a conventional gasoline or hybrid drivetrain, this new version retains the hybrid option (although it is an all-new version of the drivetrain) and ditches the gas-only option for an all-electric drivetrain. The futuristic styling borrows heavily from the LF-ZC concept car from a couple of years ago, and features more of a fastback look than previous generations.
Lexus ES Features

Electrified Propulsion
The ES is available with a variety of drivetrain options. Hybrid models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a hybrid drivetrain that produces a combined total of 244 horsepower. This drivetrain comes with front-wheel drive as standard, but all-wheel drive is available. All-electric models also come with standard front-wheel drive, and in this configuration, produce 221 horsepower. All-wheel drive adds a second motor for the rear wheels, so total system output gets a bump to 338 horsepower. AWD electric models come with 276 miles of range, while the FWD configuration goes up to 307 miles. Charging is quick, too, just 7 hours of Level 2 AC charging to get from 10 to 100 percent, or 28 minutes to get from 10 to 80 percent on a DC fast charger.

Luxuriously Designed
Lexus has always been an industry leader when it comes to design, not to mention interior comfort, and the ES is the perfect example of why this is. The styling of the ES borrows heavily from the wild LF-ZC concept car, but has been toned down exactly the right amount to still look futuristic without being divisive. Inside, you’ll find a clean and well-laid-out interior that uses high-quality materials and advanced technology to create a serene environment. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel all come standard, as do memory settings for the driver’s seat, steering column, and outside mirrors. Acoustic glass, Active Sound Control, and the electrified drivetrain make the interior quiet, which makes it easier to hear the available Mark Levinson® 17-speaker, 1,800-watt PurePlay Surround Sound Audio System, a standout system in this segment.

Advanced Technology
One look at the Lexus ES will tell you that advanced technology is fundamental to what makes it special. Not only does it feature a selection of advanced drivetrain options, but the ES also offers other advanced features, like a wireless phone charger, cloud navigation, and Remote Connect, all standard. The ES is also the first Lexus vehicle to come with Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, the most advanced version of the highly advanced suite of safety features. This includes things like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, and Automatic High Beams. Even better, all these features come standard.
