Lexus Navigation vs Scout GPS in Naples, FL
The days of folded up maps in the glove compartment, printed out MapQuest directions, and even bulky GPS units plugged into the cigarette lighter are long behind us. While nowadays most vehicles offer large digital screens capable of calculating your route and displaying navigation directions, they’re usually reserved for the uppermost trim package — unless you go with a luxury brand like Lexus. When you purchase a new Lexus coupe, sedan, or SUV, you will have two options for your navigation system.
Scout GPS Link
Scout GPS Link is a navigation app downloadable to your smartphone. Simply launch the app on your smartphone, connect to the infotainment system over Bluetooth®, and select the Scout GPS Link app on the media screen to begin displaying navigation directions on your compatible Lexus model. Don’t confuse it for the Scout GPS Navigation app, which can only be used on your smartphone and cannot display on your Lexus’s multimedia system. Scout GPS Link is currently free to use.

The Lexus Navigation system has more advanced hardware capabilities than the Scout GPS Link app, and supports multiple languages. The richer graphics can render maps with real road geometry as well as simulate views of approaching highway junctions and 3D city views.
This built-in navigation system will display your current speed, automatically locate nearby gas stations when you run low on fuel, and provide real-time traffic data such as traffic jams, closed roads, and traffic accidents.
Lexus Navigation is not available as an aftermarket accessory and must be installed at the factory. There is no subscription fee for GPS, but there are subscription fees associated with Lexus Enform Services.

Dynamic Navigation, available on select models, updates in real time over the cloud. Dynamic Navigation consists of three parts: Dynamic Map, which includes the most up-to-date map data; Dynamic Routing, which includes the most up-to-date travel times; and Dynamic POI, which accepts casual search terms similar to how you might search the web, and can locate tens of millions of points of interest.
